Look At What's Happening On Sept 9th

Hey there are some killer albums coming out in September...

Fujiya and Miyagi - Lightbulbs
I don't know about you but I can't get enough of their funk inspired electronic sounds. Their last LP Transparent Things was excellent. It was an excellent album to put on and just chill. I've heard what I think will be their single called "knickerbocker", and although I can't decipher what the lyrics could mean, it's a great groove.

Okkervil River - The Stand Ins
I haven't heard anything from this album yet, but I've read some people opinions about the leaks and it seems to be received pretty well. The name makes me think that it will continue in the same style of The Stage Names due to the play inspired title, heh. Either way, really excited for this one.

Metallica - Death Magnetic
Yep, from what I heard, I would say Metallica is back. I've heard three of the leaks and it is so comforting that they are playing metal again. If you head over to Hype Machine you can stream the songs. Although I haven't listened to Metallica in a while, I'm pumped to hear this in all it's glory. I'm also excited to hear what all the haters have to say.

Some other interesting ones coming out later in September include:

The Cold War Kids - Loyalty to Loyalty
Tom Morello - The Fabled City
and who could forget
George Clinton - George Clinton and some Gangsters of Love...

Looks like September is gonna be a good month for my Best of 08 list.

Introducing: The Scare Bear

Ever seen that t-shirt ad on the side of some website with the girl wearing the t-shirt that says "we're going streaking"? She is also fake taking her top off. Well, call me a pig, but I was won over and HAD to check out this t-shirt website. I'm not the biggest fan of the screen-printed-funny-saying-t-shirt industry, but I was browsing for a few seconds and ran across this creature called the scarebear! Needless to say, I chuckled...now you get to see it.

I don't think I'd pay for it to be in my closet, but it is a pretty funny thought. Anyway, I'm all about the free promotion. So if you are into that kinda thing: snorg tees

Oh yeah, another thing, I heard via pitchfork that Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine and Jon Theodore, who used to be drum for The Mars Volta, are teaming up to create the band One Day as a Lion. If I remember correctly, Jon is pretty politically charged as well, so hopefully they can channel their strong feelings into some ground breaking stuff. Now I feel the post isn't completely useless. To bad they didn't name the band One Day as a Bear, I would feel clever.

I'll be on the lookout,

Got That New Walkmen Tune to Play

So I finally got a chance to listen to the first track off of the Walkmen's new release You & Me. For the longest time it wouldn't load right on imeem, at least for me. This song rings bells, they must have played it when I saw them with the White Rabbits and Spoon. I really dig it. Oh and here it is just in case you haven't heard it yet. It's been all over the music community, so thank them, not me. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album, these guys have really grown on me in the past 4-5 months or so.

NEWS!: THE MARS VOLTA RE-SCHEDULE!

Ok, here's the situation, I stayed up way to late last night and woke up at like 12 to a phone call from an unknown number. To my surprise it was a recording, a recording that I would later discover had knowledge of the news I had been waiting for. The woman/machine voice told me that The Mars Volta Show on April 18th at the Newport has been rescheduled at a different time and venue. The show will now be held at the Lifestyles Community Pavilion on Sept. 12th! About time we hear something about these guys. Although, I did read somewhere on the Comatorium that someone talked to Omar at the Cleveland show. The guy said he seemed really down and disappointed about the whole situation. At first I didn't really believe it, but the wonderful ticketmaster machine lady told me that people with Newport tickets would be let in early, also there will be a separate line. So, apparently the band cares after all, and I can put my poster back up.

Welp, yes, much much lameness. I was at the morningtide pre-release so I found out at 6pm, an hour before the show. Pretty bummed, but they are supposed to re-schedule, I'll keep you updated on that. On a lighter note, I got 6th in my flight at the pre-release and won a door prize...
Even with that minor success at the pre-release (whoop-de-doo), still disappointed about the concert reschedule, welp, white rabbits on tues. is the plan, cya then.

News: Andrew Bird Drops New E.P

I guess hes been selling it on his European tour, and I just heard about it today. Again, I would totally love to host it for all of you great people, but then that would be illegal, I guess I just don't have the stones. However, there is no stopping you from typing in "soldier on andrew bird download" on google....(cause that doesnt work ;P). It's got eight tracks with some remixes and a collage of his arsenal of songs. It's called "Soldier On". Anywho, busy this weekend, volta in less than 24 hours, along with the morningtide pre-release which is slightly less interesting to most people haha, but I'll be sure to inform you how these events go. Ah, White Rabbits/Walkmen on Tuesday, good stuff.

Anyway, I'm about to listen to that now, and you should too.

I'll let ya know how that goes. Church.

News: NEWS!!!

Just a few quick things...

-Radiohead has announced a North American Tour as a result of In Rainbows hitting #1 on the charts. The list that was given out showed that they would stop in Cleveland. The band said that the tour will take place in two parts, being split by the European and UK stops.

-Here is a link to Radiohead's Scotch Mist film released on New Years. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already.

-Also, The Black Keys have released news of a new album and a new tour. The new album will be called Attack and Release. You can read more about it here, courtesy of pitchfork. I pray they come to Columbus, I saw them in Akron over winter break and they were amazing.

-Even more, Jack Johnson as you may know is putting out a new album called "Sleep Through the Static", and I'm pretty excited after hearing the single "If I Had Eyes". I'd totally host it if it weren't illegal, maybe if I get some type of login system eventually. Anyway, get it on itunes, totally worth the .99 imo, really diggin' the electric guitar.

That's about it for my 3am news revelation while searching the web. Stay Classy San Diego.
